 Derek Hart

High School Career

Derek is a Round Lake High School alumni. He helped his team win 19 games in 1992 by going undefeated at 10–0 as a senior.  He was named Northwest Suburban MVP of the conference that consisted of 6 teams.  
 

College Career

Derek signed a scholarship to the College of Lake County and played under the great Gene Hanson for 2 years.  Posted a 2 – 2 record as a freshman and a 7 – 2 as a sophomore.  Played in the All Star Game in 1994 for the Skyway Conference Champs. After CLC he received a scholarship to play at Lewis University in Romeoville, IL.  While at Lewis, Derek recorded 7 wins as a junior and 6 wins as a senior. 

 

Professional Career

Derek was brought to Richmond, Indiana to play for the Richmond Roosters in the Single A Frontier League.  He played 3 years in the minors and completed his professional career with 10 wins. 

 

In 2011 Derek was inducted to the Round Lake High School Hall of Fame for Baseball.

In 2014 Derek will be Head Coach/Manager of the Lake County Lightning 9U Gold Team

He is extremely excited about his new venture of starting a fundamental baseball clinic here in the Round Lake area and welcomes all surrounding area baseball players ages 6 – 11 to attend.
He's instructed roughly 90 players in the last 24 months in his 2 on 1 lessons and over 180 in the clinics in the last 24 months

Heath Cummings

Heath Cummings will start his second year as the head baseball coach at the College of Lake County. This will be Coach Cummings first full year of recruiting and bringing players from Lake County and the surrounding areas. Coach Cummings was hired in September 2010. The 2012 season will have new recruits with the majority of them from the Lake County area.

Coach Cummings played high school baseball at Zion Benton High School. He played baseball at the College of Lake County. His sophomore year, he was All-Conference, All-State and captain of the 1994 State Champions team. He received his Associate Degree in Science Art from CLC. Coach Cummings received a baseball scholarship to Erskine College in South Carolina where he was the team MVP his junior year.

Coach Cummings started his coaching career at Zion Benton High School in 1997, and remained on staff through 2010. He started out as a freshmen coach and finished as the head baseball coach for his last 3 years at Zion. Coach Cummings also coached a summer Colt 16U team for 6 years. They qualified for the AABC state  tournament. In 2001 and 2002 they took 2nd place. In 2003 they took 3rd place. In 2009 his team took 1st place. The combined team records were 98-39 for the Colt team. At Zion Benton, his
combined team record was 324-244.

In Coach Cummings first year at CLC, he had 9 players move on to a four year universities.

 
 
Tom Anselm  

High School Career
Coach Anselm graduated from Zion-Benton High School in 1993.  While at Zion-Benton, Anselm was All- Conference, All County.  He led the Zee-Bees in ERA, wins and hitting for his junior and senior year. 

College Career
After high school, Anselm went to College of Lake County and UW-Whitewater (Div.III). While at Whitewater he was the fourth starter in a five man rotation and was pitcher of the week on two separate occasions. 

Coaching Experience
His coaching career started in 2000 in Wisconsin and now has brought his talents to Illinois in 2003.  He has coached on every level of high school baseball and teaches all facets of the game.

Tim Hansen Jr.

High School Career - Coach Hansen graduated from Zion-Benton High School in 2006. He played three years on the varsity baseball team. Some of his accomplishments include: being All-Conference and All-County and all three years while playing varsity baseball. Senior year he was named MVP and finished with a .396 batting average. While attending, he was coached by Gary Bereiter and Heath Cummings through his four years at Zion Benton High School. 
 

College Career – Attended four years at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI. Tim played on the varsity team all four years he attended. During his time at Carthage College the team made two NCAA appearances at the DIVISION lll COLLEGE WORLD SERIES. During his time at Carthage College he obtained a degree in Marketing and Business Administration. Tim Hansen Jr. was coached by Augie Schmidt lV during his four years at Carthage College.  

Coaching Experience- During Coach Tim Hansen’s time at Carthage College he was part of the summer and winter baseball training camps to help kids of all ages to better their baseball skills. He has also coached a thirteen and under traveling baseball team in the summer of 2010 and is aspiring to keep coaching at all levels.
